5. Precautions
A “NO OPERATION” or similar warning sign should be hung on the start switch or operating lever before maintaining or repairing the generator set. Do not allow unauthorized persons to approach the engine while maintenance or repairs are being performed on the generator set. And press the emergency stop button on the generator set control panel, the generator output switch should be in the OFF position. According to working conditions, the operator should wear a safety helmet when entering the generator set installation site, and wear protective eyewear and other protective equipment when necessary. Wear ear protection when running the engine in an enclosed place to prevent hearing damage. Do not wear oversized protective clothing and jewelry on the work site, which may hang on the joystick or other parts of the engine. Make sure all guards or covers are securely in place on the engine. Do not put maintenance solutions in glass containers as glass containers are fragile.
6. The maintenance of starting batteries
When one of the following situations occurs, the charging time is allowed to be extended appropriately:
6.1. The batteries storage time is more than 3 months, and the charging time can be 8 hours.
6.2. The ambient temperature is continuously above 30°C (86°F) or the relative humidity is continuously higher than 80%, and the charging time is 8 hours.
6.3. If the batteries are stored for more than 1 year, the charging time can be 12 hours.
6.4. When charging is about to end, check whether the electrolyte level is sufficient. If necessary, add a standard electrolyte with the correct specific gravity (1:1.28).
6.5. In addition, in order to prevent the pollution in the battery cell from being discharged in time due to long-term closure, and to prevent water droplets from condensing on the inner top wall of the cell, care should be taken to open the special vent hole to facilitate proper air circulation.
